      Taxable Cases, Marcelo Forced to Pay Fines



Real Madrid star Marcelo chose to pay fines for tax evasion cases concerning his name. The Brazilian found an agreement regarding the amount of fine filed by the public prosecutor.

Marcelo completes a row of soccer players who are included in the list of investigations by the Spanish tax authorities. Previously, his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo had already experienced it. The Portuguese player also tripped over alleged tax evasion. The case of Ronaldo also had time to roll to court. 

The Portuguese player was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of 19 million euros, equivalent to Rp 320 billion.


But, because of the first first offense while in Spain, Ronaldo did not have to be in jail.
Marcelo also has the same fate. He also had to pay a fine of 753 thousand euros or equivalent to Rp 872 million and received a suspended sentence for four months.  

Marcelo finally found an agreement with the prosecutor after 40 percent or as much as 196,367 euros of the total initial assumption by the prosecutor was considered no longer part of embezzlement. Thus, Marcelo is only responsible for 490,917 euros.  

The Spanish government is incessantly hunting taxes for players who play in the Matador country. Besides Marcelo and Ronaldo, Lionel Messi who played at the Barcelona club also did not escape investigation. Likewise with Javier Mascerano and Adriano Correia. 


The attitude of the Spanish government has actually drawn a lot of criticism from the players. Even this problem is considered to be one of the reasons Ronaldo moved to Juventus.
Marcelo himself later also mentioned that he would follow in the footsteps of Ronaldo. But Marcelo firmly denied it. According to him, these rumors are very ridiculous.  

"This is an element that is hardly worthy of discussion. I am very happy at Real Madrid, this is my home and I still have many years left in my contract," Marcelo said, as reported by Tribal Football.
