Meeting of Data Leakage Meeting
Jakarta - Leaking a
million Facebook data from Indonesia feared used for politics. So Commission I
of Parliament waiting for Facebook presence after today Facebook can not attend
meet the call.
"Before the
incident occurred (Facebook data is used for political purposes), we want to
make sure what kind of leak, who did, for what, we first," said Chairman
of Commission I Abdul Haris Almasyhari at Parliament Building, Senayan,
Jakarta, Wednesday 11/4/2018).
Today Facebook can
not attend to Commission I because Southeast Asia's Facebook leadership must
attend the call of the United States Congress (US). So Facebook has been
informed of this reason while requesting the rescheduling of its presence in
Commission I. "So it is rescheduled on April 17. Because it will be
presented also officials up a Southeast Asia," said Abdul.
"Hopefully, if
we do not attend, it will not be good," he said.
Even so, Abdul did
not suppose that a million of the leaked private data were used for political
purposes. Actually as long as the use of Facebook is done according to the
rules, it will not matter.
Neither the PKS,
Abdul's party, or any other party can benefit from Facebook if it does not
violate the protection of personal data. Political interests to businesses can
take advantage of Facebook without breaking the law. I think it's not just MCC.
Facebook can be useful for anyone as long as the goal is positive. if negative,
I think not good, "he said.
Sanctions need to be
dropped from the government to Facebook when Mark Zuckerberg's company is found
unlawful. When Facebook closed, according to Abdul did not matter because it
would appear similar applications.
"If for us even
though Facebook is permanently closed, it will show up in Indonesian style, I
think it will lead to market balance, there is demand there supply," he
said.
